The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Parliament) on Tuesday passed a law banning fireworks and firecrackers in order not to injure millions of Ukrainians who witnessed explosions and bombings during the Russian invasion, writes EFE.
“Fireworks are finally prohibited by law!” Yevgenia Kravchuk, People’s Deputy from the “Servant of the People” party of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, wrote on her Facebook page. Kravchuk is one of the initiators of the law.
290 deputies of the Verkhovna Rada out of 450 mandates voted for the law.
Kravchuk explained that firecrackers and fireworks revive “unbearable” memories for Ukrainians and destroy any “party atmosphere”. The deputy also congratulated herself with the suffering that animals will be spared when this ban is voted.
F1 firecrackers are exempt from the ban because they are considered dangerous and have a low noise level and are intended for use in restricted areas, particularly inside residential buildings.
The law, which makes both the use and sale of pyrotechnics illegal, will take effect after a six-month moratorium, which will be extended to one year in the case of exports. (Source: Agerpres / Photo: Dreamstime.com)
