As the coronation ceremony of Britain’s King Charles and Queen Camilla approaches, the palace is slowly revealing the details of the long-awaited event.
Therefore, the royal couple will be transported from Buckingham to the abbey in a state-of-the-art carriage with air conditioning, electric windows and special shock absorbers, said Sally Goodcher, curator of the royal collection.
“This carriage is used at the coronation for the first time. It was presented to Queen Elizabeth in 2014 and was used at the Opening of Parliament that year, and occasionally thereafter. But, of course, he never had the opportunity to be used on such a historic and important occasion,” said the curator.
The carriage, built for Elizabeth’s 60th year on the throne, is covered in over 400 sheets of gold and adorned with pieces of wood from the Mary Rose, flagship of King Henry VIII’s fleet that sank in 1545.
On the chassis of the royal carriage lie pieces of wood from Isaac Newton’s apple tree, under which he inspired the theory of gravity. The cart is more than five and a half meters long, about three meters high, weighs more than three tons and is drawn by six horses.

King Charles will wear a 2.5kg St. Edward’s Crown and St. George’s Cross ring, and in the ensuing procession he will hold a scepter and orb, symbolizing religious authority.
At the same time, Queen Camilla will wear the crown of Mary of Teck, wife of King George V. Only 2,000 people are invited to the ceremony. Among all this, a new emoji has been developed dedicated to the celebration of the coronation in social networks.
