A constable and a special forces soldier serving in Attica are among six arrested as part of an autophoros by the Internal Affairs Service of law enforcement agencies on charges of drug trafficking and dereliction of duty.
In particular, a criminal case was initiated against the detainees for violating the law on narcotic substances and amateur-professional sports, as well as for dereliction of duty. It is noted that the case file also includes five people for violating drug laws, in respect of which the conditions of the automatic procedure were not met.
According to the Ministry of Citizens’ Protection, after proper use of information and the application of special investigative techniques, it turned out that the arrested constable had been involved in drug trafficking since October 2022, mainly raw hashish. These quantities were supplied to other detainees, and the defendants used their homes as storage facilities.
Encrypted conversations and intra-service traffic
At the same time, the constable allegedly applied precautions, in particular encrypted conversations and the use of online applications in communication, and, as it was established, transported drugs in an official car, performing an ordered service.
The accused constable, on duty yesterday, Saturday, April 8, in an official car, informed his escort that he needed to meet with a relative who was going on a trip. Immediately after that, he moved away from the official car and met with one of the detainees, whom he supplied with eight grams of cannabis.
As for the special guard, it was established that he purchased drugs for personal use.
During the searches conducted in the defendants’ homes, among other things, 2 kilograms 536.2 grams of raw hemp, 46 tablets and 11 vials with unknown liquid substances, as well as 2 vacuum-sealed bags were found and seized.
Arrested persons are delivered to the competent body of the prosecutor’s office.
