ELAS, a gang that took bags from women while walking in various parts of Attica, was liquidated.

On Friday (7/4) in Penteli and Athens, 2 Greeks, aged 32 and 47, and a 40-year-old foreigner, were arrested as members of an aggravated robbery and theft gang as accomplices and thereafter. and, as the case may be, for grievous bodily harm, violence against officers, profanity, and violation of the Weapons and Substances Act.

ELAS was able to identify the accused, who were discovered after the police operation in Penteli and Athens, after using information and evidence.

As it became known from the investigation, since at least December 2022, the defendants created and joined a group that was engaged in stealing wallets from passers-by.

In particular, according to the method of action, the defendants on a motorcycle, hiding facial features with helmets, moved at low speed near shopping centers where there was a crowd of people.

Their potential victims are exclusively women.

They chose exclusively women as their potential victims, and after approaching them, when they got close enough, the passenger quickly and forcefully pulled out their bags and ran away.

In some cases, excessive violence on the part of the accused resulted in the victims being dragged to the ground, resulting in injuries.

During a search of property and houses, among other things, the following were found and seized: a REPLIC pistol and part of a carbine, a knife 23.3 cm long, weighing 35.3 grams. hemp, clothes and helmets that they brought when committing criminal acts, a motorcycle, the amount of 140 euros and 7 mobile phones.

From the preliminary investigation, 15 cases of robberies and thefts with the same method of action in Neo Psychiko, Marusi and Petralona have been solved so far.

The arrested were taken to the District Attorney of Athens.
