Romania’s national handball team moved a step closer to qualifying for this year’s World Cup after an emotionless 35-20 win over Portugal.

The Romanian national team defeated Portugal in the playoff round of the 2023 World Cup

The team coached by Florentin Pera produced a sensational performance in the play-off round for the 2023 World Cup, which will be held in November-December and will be hosted by Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

In a hall in Pitesti with around 4,500 fans, Romania authoritatively controlled the dispute with the national team of Portugal and took a serious option to enter this year’s final tournament.

The best scorer of the Romanian national team in the match against Portugal was Sorina Grozav, who scored 7 goals, followed by Cristina Nyagu and Nicolet Dinke with 6 goals each.

The return match will take place on April 12.

The 2023 Women’s World Handball Championship will be held from 29 November to 17 December 2023 and will be hosted by Denmark, Norway and Sweden.
