Russian air defenses shot down a missile fired from Ukraine over the Crimean port of Feodosia, located on the southern coast of the peninsula, Serhiy Aksyonov, the Moscow-appointed governor of the occupied Ukrainian peninsula, said on Saturday.
“A missile fired from Ukraine was shot down over Feodosia,” a pro-Russian official wrote in Telegram, without giving details of the incident.
Aksyonov’s advisor said that debris from the destroyed rocket fell in a residential area, but there were no casualties, reports the Russian news agency RIA Novosti.
Images posted on social media showed a large plume of white smoke rising from behind a hill, but the photos appeared to have been taken from a location where no point of impact with the ground was visible, CNN reported.

The object is theoretically far beyond the range of weapons known to Ukraine
Ukrainian authorities have not commented on the possible missile launch, and CNN could not confirm claims of the interception.
Feodosia is at least 250 kilometers from the nearest Ukrainian military positions, putting it well beyond the range of missiles known to be in service with Ukrainian forces, whether locally sourced or part of military assistance from of the United States and other allies, CNN notes.
On the other hand, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi assured in his usual night speech on Friday that order in international relations will return “only when the Ukrainian flag returns to Crimea” and there will be freedom. (Sources: News.ro, Agerpres)
