David Popovici has already won four gold medals at the national swimming championships in Otopeni and qualified for the 100m freestyle final on Saturday.

David Popovich in the 100m freestyle final – he can qualify for the 2024 Olympics

The holder of the world record in this type (46.86 seconds), David showed the best time of the series: 50.39 seconds. Popovichi was ahead of Mihai Gergeli, showing a time of 50.67 seconds.

The 100m freestyle final will be held on Saturday evening from 19:19.

To get to the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024, David Popovici must show a better time – 48.34 s, the standard set by FINA.

At the National Swimming Championships in Otopeni this week, David also won gold in the 50m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 50m butterfly (he broke the national record in that event) and 400m freestyle.
