Burnley secured promotion to the Premier League after beating Middlesbrough 2-1 on Friday in the 40th round of the league.

Burnley were promoted to the Premier League

The team coached by Belgian Vincent Kompany (former Manchester City captain) won thanks to goals from Barnes (’12) and Roberts (’66). The home team’s goal was scored by Akpom (’48, penalty).

With a 19-match unbeaten run, Burnley are top of the table and 19 points clear of third-placed Luton with six games remaining.

Burnley will return to the Premier League just a year after relegation in the final stages of the 2021/22 season.

According to research by Deloitte, promotion could be worth more than £300m over five seasons if the club survives its first season in the Premier League.
