
The inter-county poetry festival “Ion Kozmei” is held in Suceava, this year for the fifth time, organized by the Cultural Center “Bukovyna” with the support of the Suceava County School Inspectorate, the Suceava County Council, “Matei Vișniec”. Only works in the Romanian language, written with diacritics, unpublished and unrewarded in other literary competitions in the county and the country, are accepted for the competition, the organizers say. Competition poems will be written in Times New Roman CE font, font size 12, line spacing 150%.
Each participant has the right to participate in the competition, having from five to ten poems.
“Works will bear a motto chosen by the author, attention, a single motto on all works, above the title, without personal insignia, graphics or any color other than black, for the texts and will be sent in different versions instead of a signature. attached files together with the author’s autobiography to the email address: [email protected] by May 5, 2023,” the organizers inform.
Poems will be evaluated by a specialized jury. The jury of the competition will be composed of poets and literary experts, members of the Writers’ Union of Romania.
The organizers inform that there is no participation fee, and the laureates are provided with food and accommodation to participate in the award ceremonies.

Ion Kozmei (born March 11, 1951, Kelineşti, Sherbautsi, Suceava, Romania — died October 1, 2015, Suceava, Romania) is a poet from Suceava, publicist and translator into Romanian of the Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko, professor of the language and literature of the Romanian language, professor of Latin and doctor of philology with a thesis on Taras Shevchenko – People’s Poet of Ukraine and his Reception in Romania (University of Bucharest, 2006).
He was a member of the Union of Writers of Romania and the Society of Writers of Bucovina, the founder of the Bucovina Culture Fund.
Many times awarded for his literary activity, Ion Kozmei was one of the most active cultural animators of Bukovyna. “He left an incomparable mark on the cultural life of Suceava over the past 40 years,” as journalist Niku Roška wrote in 2015 after the Suceava poet’s death.
Ion Kosmei made his debut in literature with the collection of poems “Theme for a Story” (1985). A large series of volumes of poetry, memoirs, prose and translations of Ukrainian lyrics, especially translations of the works of the Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko, followed.
Among other things, Ion Cosmey is the author of the poem “Love song for the health of the grass”, the text of which was the basis of the song of the same name performed by George Nicolescu in the album Ordinea de Zi (1984). The song in question returned to the spotlight in 2002 with the remix “Song for the Health of the Grass” by the electronic music group UNU’ to a version by George Nicolaescu.
