Thessaloniki: New Cases of Fake Physiotherapist Frauding Patients

A 66-year-old physiotherapist and his 72-year-old doctor accomplice are accused of three more cases of deceiving patients by Thessaloniki.

The two defendants allegedly persuaded multiple sclerosis patients to stop taking conventional medications and apply supposedly effective treatments with alleged peptides and stem cells.

Their action showed in January last year Organized Crime Directorate of Thessaloniki Security Service.

Prosecutor’s Office of First Instance pursued them for serious crimes such as fraud in excess of 900,000 euros and serial manslaughter, since among their 15 victims included – at that time – in the case file, five died as a result of illness.

Two new deaths

In parallel with the transfer of the criminal case to the investigator and by order of the prosecutor, the identity and photograph of the 66-year-old Greek physiotherapist were made public. The accomplice doctor is a German citizen and is reported to have settled permanently in Cape Town, South Africa.

After the publication, he was identified by three more victims or their relatives, who reported the fake doctor to the police.

According to EL.AS. in three new fraud cases, the defendants received a financial benefit of €215,000. Police sources claim that two of the above patients who fell into their “trap” have died.

Promotion and price list

The two defendants, as it became known in the course of the EL.AS case, turned to well-known figures in the international artistic, political and sports scene, who allegedly applied, with impressive results, the proposed treatment for the treatment of sclerosis sclerosis. .

Their action seems to have begun at least since 2009, when it spread throughout Greece. In their persuasion efforts, they went so far as to say that because this particular treatment was so effective, it was against the interests of the drug companies.

Patients with multiple sclerosis, usually in advanced stages, and other neurological conditions seem to have been persuaded to undergo this treatment by interrupting the treatment they were taking before, resulting in a deterioration in their health. In some cases, this interruption is estimated to have contributed to the hastening of the patient’s death.

According to what the police said, the injections the physiotherapist promised to give were ampoules of amino acids, while the alleged stem cell injections appeared to be ampoules of…glucose. Depending on the financial capacity of the patients, vials cost between 200 and 300 euros per dose, while injections of so-called stem cells cost between 10,000 and 25,000 euros per dose.

A police investigation began following a complaint by the patient’s brother, which ended in November 2020 in Menemeni, Thessaloniki.
