I have been dealing with other people’s texts for several decades. So academic. Primarily for learning, passion, curiosity, pleasure and self-development/enlightenment. In doing so, I have long since become (gradually more) aware of the level or culture possessed by the authors, those which are the fruits or implied in most texts, and the fact that some books or articles in bibliographies claimed to various colleagues never did not read that some quotes are taken from the works of others (“2nd/3rd/7th hand”), ignoring not only the main ideas/visions/philosophy of the original authors, taking the reference out of any context, but also treason weak up to complete misunderstanding of the relevant quote/author, hence its artificial pasting. Ineffectively assimilated, and forcibly inflated bibliographies not only at the end of the texts, but also through internal references that seem erudite, but are not (because they are caused either “from hearsay” or due to a simple coincidence of some terms in the headings/subheadings). You wonder, you doubt, you are surprised, you are sad. Sometimes, isolated or rarely, such compromising situations provoke a riot; sometimes it makes you laugh out loud. Personally, this type of encounter often elicits a paternalistic or sympathetic smile from me. Out of, or further from, such artifices and artifices… how often men are confused with intelligence, culture, doctorates, and professorships, when they would be much fitter and happier for physical work, after some meter, street wheel, or its tail the throne, ruled farms or finance, brought up children… And especially how hard it is/isn’t for those who are installed here through files, appointments or even occupation/inheritance of a chair, but with a vocation either never discovered or an intuitive late exit from the routine.. . I say not (I swear I say not) such things out of gossip or miserable malice, for I might quote sincere confessions in quotation marks (if they were not made discreetly) , sometimes at meals and secret joys, sometimes with complaints or regrets sighing on the shoulder, sometimes through appropriate gestures).

The problem is that every day I observe the procedures of intellectualism or parure (tortured, distorted, forced) not only in young people who are not yet oriented, in a hurry, cunning or simply uncultured. Increasingly, and not singly, they seem to be moving en masse across generations. The ethics of many colleagues is becoming more and more fragile, adapted to formalism (+materialistic-quantitative interests), falsification and fraud, method, style are taking effect, along with turning a blind eye, inattention and consent of an increasing number of mentors, teachers, coordinators, presidents and board members. . In “schools”/”departments” of research, assessment or teaching, and even through activities such as “study groups” and conferences, relatively closed cliques and chambers are formed with assistants recruited from abroad who support the boundless and vocal, not only political instincts, but also their bold and authoritarian network organization that hinted at itself, systematized. Experts on most commissions are invited, chosen or suggested on the basis of more or less friendly/collegial/guild affiliations or obedience, tacitly reserved, even occult initials. Next to them or among them, the imperishable island will dominate, neutralize, marginalize, resign. But if we only touch on such details, we have already reached a completely different socio-professional level or universe, the next set of excuses, opportunities, pressures, motivations.

I speak as I speak and write as I write, and from the fact that, on the other side/sides that concern me, I read widely the writings of others and carefully evaluate, support, recommend, correct, reformat and edit them for publication . Interesting things are learned about them and personally they are less and less happy, they are not infrequently sad. However, in the editorial and editorial field, I do not search, decide and work on texts for personal satisfaction. But opening them, reading them, recognizing them and caring about them also in the idea of an honest presentation of professional intelligence, therefore, including for the sake of / not for the sake of exposing the dimensions or degrees of competence and creativity, which goes not only to the zenith, but also to the small, shy or 0. So I admit and waste a lot of time also in favor of weak texts, if only in the liberal-democratic spirit of an honest presentation of the real, an ethic that believes that the world should be aware of its own heterogeneity, including the qualitative diversity that persists in the so-called exalted spheres.
