Trungelliti, 33, who has been called the Colin Kaepernick of tennis, has spoken out about match-fixing at the ITF level and said the governing bodies refuse to intervene.

“It is quite obvious that there is a parallel system of corruption and there are many organizations that are satisfied with it. In Challenger tournaments, this happens more or less, but in the ITF, it is impossible to think that exiting a tournament with 40 euros is advisable.

These coaches have arranged matches for 10-15 years, and everyone knows about it, and it is impossible that they do not have evidence of what is happening,” – Marco Trungelliti.

“A lot of players I spoke to told me that when they saw what happened to me, they wouldn’t report anything. And this is exactly what the organizations were looking for: that no one complains and the problems end.

The message was very clear. If you’re going to report, we’ll leave you alone, and if you get killed tomorrow, we don’t care. And this is what happens. We are in a monopoly where it is impossible to do everything right.

It’s all about the huge amount of money with which this world operates. We players are not protected and we have to choose between paying 200 euros for winning a match or winning 15,000 euros, which I think is corruption. But there is no desire to make tennis a sport that is called clean, although I assure you that it is not so” – Marco Trungelliti.
