Ioan Ovidiu Sabau’s Ardennes started the play-offs with a 2-0 home win against FC Arges and a 0-2 defeat away to UTA Arad.

The Red Caps reached the quarter-finals of the Romanian Cup with a qualifying play-off against Concordia Chiažnja (2-0 away), then they finished 2nd in Group C after a 1-1 draw with CFR Cluj (a), 4-0 with KSM Oleksandria (d) and 0-0 with Rapid (a).

U Cluj holds the Romanian Cup trophy, won in the 1964-65 edition after defeating FC Arges in the final 2-1 in Bucharest and losing the other four finals.

In two straight Superliga regular season matches, U Cluj beat Hermannstadt 1-0 at home on October 8, 2022 (Bryce 83) and 1-0 away on February 28, 2023 (I Philip 10).
