Production studio Warner Bros. and the DC division, introduce Jamie Reyes, the first Hispanic superhero in a movie”blue beetle“.

The trailer, released on Monday, introduces Jamie to the public. It’s about a college graduate who gains superpowers after encountering an alien scarab and must now come to terms with his new powers while uncovering why the scarab came to Earth.

In the comic book, the character lives in El Paso, Texas, but in the film, he will reside in the city of Palmera, an area created specifically for this project.

The main character of the film directed by Angel Manuel Soto is Zolo Maridueniya (“Cobra Kai”).

“The family that we were able to create in the film – mother, father, uncle, sister and grandmother – I feel like that aspect of the superhero was pretty much underused,” the young actor told The Hollywood Reporter. .

Blue Beetle is one of three unreleased DC films made before James Gunn and Peter Safran were hired by DC Studios. The other two are The Flash (June 16) and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (December 25).

The film is due out in theaters on August 18.
