Carlos Alcaraz withdrew from the Monte Carlo Masters

The former ATP leader complained of pain during his match lost to Yannick Sinner (Miami Open semi-final) and announced on Tuesday that he had to postpone his debut on clay.

“After two months abroad, I am happy to return home, but sad because I finished the last match in Miami with physical discomfort. After seeing Dr. López Martínez in Murcia today and being assessed, I will not be able to attend Monte Carlo for the start of the clay season” – Carlos Alcaraz on Twitter.

The Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters takes place from April 8 to 16 on clay, is part of the ATP Masters 1000 category and has a total prize pool of €5,779,335. There are 56 players in the main draw, and the reigning champion is Stefanos Tsitsipas (2021, 2022).

Carlos Alcaraz and his injury-riddled career

In November, Alcaraz was forced to retire in the quarterfinals of the Paris Masters tournament after tearing the internal oblique muscle of the left abdominal wall. This injury forced the Iberian to withdraw from the 2022 Tournament of Champions.

During the preparation for the new season, the 19-year-old player injured the semimembranous muscle of his right leg and announced his defeat at the Australian Open-2023.

A grade 1 right hamstring tear forced him out of the Acapulco tournament and now the problem has surfaced at the Miami Open.

In the current season, the Spaniard has 18 wins and 2 losses (won in Buenos Aires and Indian Wells).
