At the age of 28, Robert Candrea, a former football player of the First League of ASA Tirgu Mures, radically changed his life. He left his career due to depression caused by the pressure of football and now practices spiritual therapy.

Robert Candrea was not one of the stars of Ligue 1. A defensive player with a slight frame but with great ambition, the young man made his Ligue 1 debut in 2016 in the play-offs in the 6-1 Viitorul – ASA Târgu Mureș match, which he is currently investigating FRF on suspicion of illegal betting. After 4 years in football, during which he experienced relegation, insolvency and bankruptcy, Candrea quietly retired in 2020, at the height of the pandemic.

“I didn’t sleep well. I woke up and the first thing I felt was a lot of pressure in my stomach. I also had liver problems due to the stress I was putting myself through. In the morning, I felt the urge to throw up all the time. Sometimes even before matches I went to the toilet so that no one would see me. It would be weird if the coach or anyone else saw you. I was throwing up all the time, it was hard for me to eat before training. My body was telling me: “Robert, this is not for you anymore!”. But this condition has become a habit. Sometimes I thought, “Why do you feel this way? Your life is not a mess!”. I didn’t understand and I started blaming myself for feeling it,” Robert Candrea told GSP Live.
