Samuel L. Jackson and British actress Emilia Clarke, known for her role as Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, will be the two main characters of a new series that will be streamed in Romania this summer.

The streaming platform Disney+, which also launched in Romania last year, presented on Sunday the poster and trailer of the spy thriller “Secret Invasion”, produced by Marvel Studios, also announcing that it will premiere on June 21 this year.

According to the official description released by Disney, the series, which is currently set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), will see Nick Fury learn of a secret invasion of Earth by the shape-shifting Skrull faction.

“Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill, and the Skrull Talos, who has taken up residence on Earth. Together, they race against time to prevent the imminent invasion of the Skrulls and save humanity,” the series description adds.

The best cast of new Marvel series

In addition to Samuel L. Jackson and Emilia Clarke, Secret invasion stars: Olivia Colman, Don Cheadle, Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Martin Freeman, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Charlaine Woodard, Cillian Scott, Samuel Adewuni, Dermot Mulroney, Christopher McDonald and Katie Finneran.

Jackson will apparently play Nick Fury, while Clarke will play Hya, the daughter of Talos.

For Emilia Clarke, who revealed last year that she had lost a “small part” of her brain due to two brain aneurysms sustained while filming game of Thronesthis will be her first major serial role since the end of the fantasy series that made her famous all over the world.

It is interesting that for Jackson this will be only the second main role in the series after V The Last Days of Ptolemy Graylimited series that aired on Apple TV+ last year.

Secret invasion it will also be a limited series consisting of 6 episodes of around 40-50 minutes. Ali Selim (Sweet Earth, Menacing tower) directs the series and also serves as an executive producer alongside Kevin Feige and Samuel L. Jackson, among others.

Veteran Hollywood actors moving to streaming platforms?

News of Jackson’s co-optation Secret invasion comes after other big names in Hollywood recently announced that they will star in the series for the first time.

In late February, Netflix announced that it had convinced Arnold Schwarzenegger to star in a series called Fubar and which will tell the story of the relationship between a father and his daughter, after they discover that their entire relationship was based on lies and that they are both CIA agents.

“When they join forces, this series touches on themes related to family dynamics with humor, action scenes, and of course, spies,” reads the description of the Netflix series.

Netflix also announced in early March that it has co-opted Hollywood heavyweight Robert De Niro to star in another of its series, Zero day.

It will be a 6-episode limited series and will be the first series in which De Niro does not appear as a “guest star” in his career spanning over 5 decades. He will also executive produce the Netflix series, while Leslie Linka Glatter, who previously worked on such series House MD., crazy man or Home.

Information about the series is currently very limited, beyond the official description: “How do we find the truth in a world in crisis that seems to be torn apart by forces beyond our control? And in an age full of conspiracy theories and subterfuges, how many of these forces are the product of our own actions, perhaps even our imaginations?”

And Sylvester Stallone, another actor who needs no introduction, also recently starred in the series, Tulsa Kingwhich last year was broadcast by Paramount+ and is available from February in Romania on the new SkyShowtime streaming platform.
