Today, Monday, April 3, passenger trains on the Athens-Thessaloniki railway line are on track, more than a month after the tragic accident at Tempi, as part of the relaunch of the railway.

The first route, departing from Larisa station to Kalambaka, will be carried by Minister of State and responsible for infrastructure and transport G. The first Hellenic Train route is scheduled to start at 08:28 from Larissa station to Kalambaka, while the second route is expected to start at 10:28 on the Athens – Thessaloniki route.

Security measures will be tightened until the network is fully operational again with all necessary protocols. Reduced timetables, low speeds/longer travel times, two conductors per station, two drivers and one conductor, and only one train in the tunnels.

According to the plan, initially one pair of routes will operate on the Athens-Thessaloniki-Athens axis, and from Friday, April 7, 2 pairs of routes will operate and 3 pairs of routes from April 11.

Specifically, the routes are:

From Athens by train IC52, departure time 10:28.

From Thessaloniki, train IC55, departure time 10:08.

From Athens, train 882, departure time 08:28.

From Kalambaka, train 887, departure time 16:45.

Recall that Hellenic Train bus lines continue to operate on separate routes until the railway traffic is fully restored. According to OSE, the Athens suburb routes on the Piraeus-Magoula-Piraeus section as well as the Athens-Leianoklady-Athens route are scheduled for Friday, April 7, 2023, while the routes on the Larisa-Volos lines are also expected to be announced on the Paleofarsalos-Kalambaka and Thessaloniki-Larisa lines. .
