SYRIZA: Attica – ballot box barometer

In all electoral contests, political leaders find themselves in Attica basin. More than a third of the electorate votes for him, and therefore the attention of the parties is directed there. OUR Alexis Tsipras will adhere to the same tactics until the “sand in the hourglass” is empty, conducting several targeted tours in the vicinity of Athens in parallel with the district.

The choice of Agia Paraskevi, which he visits today, is not accidental. This is an urban area where SYRIZA did not do well in 2019. N.D. registered percentage of 47.84% and SYRIZA 26.55%. The difference was more than 20 points, which indicates how much the middle class “punished” the party of Alexei Tsipras for excessive taxes. The Athens area with 40,485 citizens registered on the voter lists, where over 30% did not go to vote four years ago. In the last election, the northern sector was colored blue, with the ruling faction “decidedly” winning by 17.5 points. For this reason, in the end, in this region, several top officials were included in the list, such as E. Tsakalotos, K. Zachariadis, M. Xenogiannakopoulou, G. Katrugalos and P. Skourletis. Actor Marios Athanasiou has joined them and, according to information, another important replenishment is expected. If SYRIZA does not win or significantly reduces the scissors, it will elect only four deputies. Characteristically, in the municipalities of Kifissia and Filofei-Psihiko, the difference has reached “inconceivable heights”, 43.65% and 53.94%, respectively.

Within its walls, SYRIZA wants to strengthen the leadership it has held since 2012 in Western Attica and Western Athens. In 2019, he also won the 2nd Piraeus. Areas with a strong folkloric element are its strengths, while it is expected that the wave of accuracy that has affected the lower and middle classes will create even more flow towards Kumunduru. Athens A is a big bet that the party will come out “from the right” into battle in next October’s municipal elections. More “passable” is the pre-election struggle in the southern sector, where the current official opposition lost in the last elections with 7.46%.

With the slogan of the PASOK era from far back in 2009, “We will continue to sink or we will change”, speaking also of change, Alexis Tsipras chose the “blue” castle of Argolis to make an opening to the entire political spectrum: “Greek society, left, right, center – everything you, I say this emphatically – what is required is a significant change not only in the government, but also in the policies that the government is pursuing. Yiannis Oikonomou responded to the official leader of the opposition: “What Mr. Tsipras calls a ‘progressive’ cooperative government is bound to plunge the country into instability, insecurity, uncertainty and poverty. With recycled political products, Mr. Tsipras cannot bring anything new, nothing dynamic, nothing creative.”
