Few news escape the negative trend and inspire optimism and, above all, hope. Thus, the Thessaloniki Student Fair opens tomorrow Friday, which is organized at the Mediterranean Cosmos shopping center, where students aged 15 to 18 from Northern Greece will present the “smart enterprises” (see start-ups) that they have created during the academic year. Their goal is to compete for their products as well as get more exposure by highlighting their new talents and bright ideas. The student fairs are organized by Junior Achievement Greece as part of the global program “Virtual Business – Company”, which is held for the fourth year in a row under the auspices of the SA of the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, and is carried out with the approval of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs. In mid-March, 54 student startups (900 children) from schools in Central and Southern Greece participated in a related event in Athens, and now 33 virtual businesses (600 children) from secondary and high schools in Northern Greece are participating in Thessaloniki. .

The column was very pleased to receive material for an innovative project developed by the student enterprise Isometrics of the Experimental High School of the University of Macedonia regarding the all-ages game Wizzle, which was developed at the school using 3D printing techniques. The children involved in its creation drew on the award-winning excellence of the school’s Symmetry Math Group. Why is this? The answer is all around us. They are everywhere. We are made of symmetries, we are surrounded by them, we act and think with them. Man imitates the symmetries that he embodies and observes in his environment and brings them into his artifacts and technologies. What is a Wizzle? This is a collection of colored mosaics arranged according to the logic of a mosaic, with endless creative possibilities. It is available in many types in terms of shape, color, number of pieces and degree of difficulty. The user can create their own personalized wizzle using the innovative interactive application on the Isometrics website.

The important thing is that the game can become a valuable teaching aid in a geometry lesson that is difficult for many. It can also be used in psychotherapy centers (especially for children), medical institutions, nursing homes, institutions for the prevention and treatment of dementia to reduce stress, preserve memory. Well done guys from the Experimental High School of the University of Macedonia and good luck in the competition. You can also vote for their creation via the links:
