Apple: First-generation iPhone up for auction with a starting price of $32,000

Over $30,000 will be available for those who want to own an unused 2007 iPhone – the first generation – that is expected to go up for auction today.

Specifically, anyone who wants to purchase this first-generation iPhone will have to pay $32,000 just to enter the auction. In fact, Wright Auctions estimates that the winning bid will likely range from $40,000 to $60,000.

The first generation model was produced before 2015 and is not compatible with the latest Apple iOS 16 operating system. In addition, its hard drive has a capacity of only 8 gigabytes, and the price for this model at that time was $599.

It is remembered that Steve Jobs introduced the iPhone to an excited public at the MacWorld Conference & Expo in San Francisco in January 2007. Six months later, he was already in stores. At the time, David Pogue, writing for the New York Times, called it “a tiny, beautiful portable computer whose screen is a plate of touch glass.”

The auction is expected to start today at noon, while little is known about the owner of this particular model.

The only thing known about the origin of the first generation iPhone is that it arrived at Wright Auctions via Donald Gaidar, a New York appraiser who specializes in antiques and arts and crafts.

In one of the interviews, Gaidar did not name the seller, saying only that he is a New Yorker who works in the financial sector and occupies a prominent place in public life.

As for the iPhone, he indicated that a friend gave it to its mysterious owner shortly after its release in June 2007. At that time, the owner was not ready to part with the Motorola Razr phone.

In fact, when he decided to change his mobile device to a more modern one, the specific model was already outdated.
