Rationale for students of agricultural faculties of 13 faculties, former universities

The mobilization of students and teachers from 13 faculties of agriculture (formerly TEI) at 7 universities across the country has reached a large scale in the last ten days, with the last and most important step, the exodus of professors in the department of agriculture. University of Ioannina in Arta. How everything seems according to exclusive information “K”their suggestions were heard.

Thus, two important changes are included in the amended provision, which, according to “K”, should be introduced in the next few hours to article 126 of the draft law of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food under the heading “Unified legal framework for the organization and activities of the Hellenic Agricultural Organization- DIMITRA.

This article concerns unregulated, to date, professional rights of graduates of these schools, transformed into universities in 2018 and 2019.

Now the basic requirements of students and teachers are met by a specific amended provision.

First of all, the request for the names of all 13 departments of agriculture is accepted, and now the departments are not described in a general way in the subparagraph in accordance with the already established professional rights of the “traditional” departments of agriculture in the AEI. (Athens, ABT, Democritus, etc.)

The fact that the departments are described one by one by name, once and for all establishes their professional rights under the information “K”.

The procedure to be followed is the following: ETHAEE certification of schools. (National authority for higher education).

The reason why the graduates of the aforementioned faculties of agriculture in the universities of Greece (Universities of Ioannina, Thessaly, Patras, Peloponnese, Greek Mediterranean, International University of Greece and Western Macedonia) do not professionally dates back to 2018 when all the departments of agriculture at TEI were converted to universities within two years with a new curriculum.

Thus, there were 13 sections. five years of study, in accordance with the provisions of Laws 4559/2018 (A’142), 4589/2019 (A’13) and 4610/2019 (A’70). However, the professional rights of these graduates have not yet been regulated. Thus, they themselves do not have access to the Hellenic Chamber of Geotechnics, to public tenders and to the labor market of their sector in general.

The case of Christos Dimitriadis, who in 2018 took advantage of layout, according to which the excellent students of the former TEI agriculture, which in the same year were transformed into FOREVER, with one more year of study, they could already have a higher education in their hands.

When, after completing his studies, he turned to the competent authorities in order to issue the necessary license for a pesticides, fertilizers and seeds store that he wanted to open, he fell, as “K” said, against the wall. Everyone told me that this particular degree does not “confer” professional rights,” he told us, explaining that he was eventually forced to open a retail store that sells pet food, as well as agricultural products, allowed to those who do not have recognized degree in agriculture.

To the question “K” why these professional rights were not secured when these departments were created, Mr. Anastasy China, the president of the agency in question, told K that schools often begin by preparing curricula, then recruiting staff, and then gradually regulating professional rights. According to the professor, these schools began work in October 2019, so the issue was within the competence of the current government. However, the government’s position is that by then the issue should have been resolved.

Due to the fact that the first mass exodus of students from the above faculties is expected next year, the issue of professional rights has resolutely entered the public discussion in recent days. Intense student and faculty protests have led V be included a few days ago in the pending draft law for the Greek Agricultural Organization-DIMITRA, ministry Development And Attachments, article 126which is trying to solve the problem. However, those directly concerned felt that the amendment did not solve the problem on the merits and did not give a clear answer when these changes would occur.

Now the main requests, namely to indicate the schools whose graduates acquire professional rights and indicate the time frame in which this will be done, and that the opinions of ETHAEE and GEOTEE are not binding, are resolved by today’s amended amendment.

In communication “K” with the Deputy Minister of Development and Food, George Stilioon this occasion, he said the following: “With the amendment that we are submitting to Parliament, we will put an end to the situation of hostage students of the country’s ministries of agriculture, created by the negligence and irresponsibility of SYRIZA in 2018. We will consolidate and secure the professional rights of graduates through more positive regulation of student demands and expectations.”
