“FSLI and FSE “Spiru Haret” trade unionists urgently ask the Government of Romania to find a solution to the problem of the full application of the provisions of Law – Framework No. 153/2017 for all categories of education workers, so that all categories of workers in the education system, in order to benefit from the basic salary, provided by this law for 2022; determination of decisions on increasing the income of auxiliary teaching staff; adoption, as an emergency, of the provisions for non-teaching staff and auxiliary teaching staff, given that the provisions have been in force since 1998,” said a statement sent by the two trade union federations.

Also, the trade unions ask to apply the norms regarding the provision of allowances on the condition of work, since education workers are the only categories of public servants who are not given these allowances, also emphasizing that in the new law on wages, the proposed grid should place education workers on a higher step than the current one. in the hierarchy of budget functions, regarding the social importance of the performed activity.

Other requests by the FSLI and the Spiru Kharet Federation are to: address the current anomalies in the remuneration of those in executive, managerial and supervisory positions, given that after their incomes have remained unchanged for the past four years, it has been established that they are lower than employees who hold management positions; establishment by law of the rule of annual indexation of employees’ wages from budget funds to the level of inflation; additional payment to employees of educational institutions/institutions assigned to project groups financed from non-refundable European scholarship funds, payment of additional hours for auxiliary and non-teaching staff.

Protests will take place in the following days in other municipalities of the district, namely: Wednesday, March 29, in Mures and Hunedoara, March 30 in Braila, Dambovica and Dol, and March 31, 2023 in Suceava.

The two union federations say picketing of government headquarters and prefectural headquarters will continue in April 2023, with a protest march in Bucharest in May and a general strike to begin in the last decade of May.
