Elon Musk is changing Twitter’s policy again. Twitter’s CEO has announced that only verified accounts will appear in the recommendations feed, continuing the social media platform’s reorganization since taking office. The For You page shows users tweets from people they don’t follow but are recommended by the app’s algorithm.

Until now, Twitter has shown different accounts of any user of the platform on this page, regardless of whether they are verified or not.

However, Musk has decided that from now on, only verified accounts will appear in the “For You” section, according to CNBC.

Elon Musk claims that the solution “is the only realistic way to solve the problem of the multitude of artificial intelligence bots that are taking over social networks.” In addition, only users with verified accounts will be able to vote in polls on the platform.

Since taking over at Twitter, Musk has been trying to change how account verification works. In the past, Twitter used blue tick user verification to determine whether an account belonged to the person or company it was named after. The trial was free and involved celebrities, journalists, government officials and organizations.

Starting last year, Musk introduced a subscription service called Twitter Blue, which allows a user to pay $8 a month to verify their account and receive a blue tick.

Twitter announced last week that it would begin winding down its “verification program” and remove verification marks on April 1. At the same time, the company encourages those with verified accounts to sign up for the Twitter Blue subscription service.

Musk has been trying to find ways to get new revenue streams at Twitter, where paid verification is a flagship policy.
