Ferrari, according to its CEO Benedetto Vigna, welcomes the proposal to exempt cars running on synthetic fuel from the ban on the sale of thermal models in the EU from 1Er July 2035.
At an event organized by Reuters, Benedetto Vigna added that the possible release would be given by Ferrari “greater freedom in your production program”. The manager also said he expected the price of electric fuel decreases as they are developedwhile reiterating Ferrari’s desire to stick with the electrification plans the manufacturer has already planned.
The first electric Ferrari will be a “unique car”
Speaking about the first electric Ferrari, Benedetto Vigna was quick to mention the model expected in 2025: “It will be a unique car, but keeping the first electric secret is part of our recipe”.
As a reminder, Ferrari’s lineup, which already includes two plug-in hybrids such as the SF90 Stradale and the 296 GTB, will be expanded. By 2030, 80% of electric and hybrid cars and 20% of thermal cars.
Porsche is also pleased
The appreciation expressed by Ferrari for the hypothesized “rescue” of thermal sports cars after 2035 is added to the evaluation of the Volkswagen group that meets the requirements a synthetic fuel useful for low-volume vehicles such as the Porsche 911, for example.
The German company’s statement reads: “We see biofuels as a useful addition to the existing stock of internal combustion engines and for special applications. Biofuel based on renewable energy sources promotes sustainable mobility. The agreement gives builders and especially consumers a clear planning perspective. »
Volkswagen AG also declares its intention to fulfill its electrification commitments, which will allow the German group to sell more than 50% of electric cars by 2030.
It will be recalled that the main impulse of the Volkswagen concern in favor of synthetic fuel comes from Porsche AG, which has already invested almost 100 million dollars in the production of synthetic fuel, starting with the Chilean pilot plant Haru Oni, built together with HIF Global. and the collaboration of Enel Green Power, ENAP, Siemens Energy, Gasco and ExxonMobil.
