Badosa, who less than a year ago was ranked number two in the world (now 29), led with a set and a break (6-3, 4-2) and missed a match point at 5-4 in her favor in the second game.

Rybakina (champion of Indian Wells) made an impressive comeback and won after two hours and 32 minutes of play with a score of 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.

Olena (7 WTA, favorite 10) will play in the 1/8 finals with Belgian Elise Mertens (39 WTA).
