Papandreou: N. Androulakis was right, we are considering programming agreements, not the distribution of chairs

Following statements by Nikos Androulakis, former Achaia Prime Minister and Member of Parliament Giorgos Papandreou raised the issue of a joint government in his speech at a meeting of the PASOK Achaia Electoral Committee.

“Let us believe in our strength and our ability to stand up to history with audacity, no matter what happens, no matter what we suffer. They ask who are we going with? They want to change the meaning of the Greek people’s vote. And even now, when the electoral system is also simple proportional, every vote of a Greek and a Greek woman is considered equally.

They want to say that a vote for PASOK is a vote for ND or that a vote for PASOK is a vote for SYRIZA. No, dear friends, this is a vote for PASOK, this is a vote for the Panhellenic Socialist Movement. Many are now asking about the composition of the new government. I think they got a clear answer from our President Nikos Androulakis.

First, we call on the Greek people to vote for PASOK – Movement for Change. And as he himself said, if there is a program agreement – but only if there is one – then, of course, the composition of the government should be discussed under specific conditions,” Georgios Papandreou said.

He added that “the chairman of the party correctly said that we are considering program agreements, and not the distribution of chairs. Even those nomenclatures that willfully mislead the real political debate about what is really at stake in this country. If this country is going to change or keep sinking.”

Giorgos Papandreou also said that PASOK will go “with those citizens with whom we can build a progressive, social and political alliance that will have a credible progressive proposal for governance with the goal of progressive change in the country” to note: “Thus, the Democrats and progressive citizens will understand, respect and abide by our practical commitment that when you vote for PASOK, you vote confidently for a proposal for progressive governance.”
