Supporters of the French national soccer team demanded the resignation of President Emmanuel Macron on Friday night during a match against the Netherlands at the Stade de France, AFP reported.
When the scoreboard in the arena showed 49 minutes and 3 seconds, dozens of fans chanted “Macron, resign!” for a few seconds.
These protests took place against the background of the public movement against the pension reform and the authorities’ use of Article 49.3 of the Constitution.
The call for this gesture of protest was shared on social media before the match, including by MP (LFI) François Ruffin.
The protest action takes place after the ninth day of national mobilization against the pension reform, which is marked by an increase in the number of participants and tension in several cities of the country, writes News.ro.
In the match against the Netherlands, France won with a score of 4:0.
Macron did not come to the Stade de France. The reason for the EU: à la 49’3, public whistling about reform and chanting “Macron’s resignation”.
Les Bleus sont exceptionals ce soir fa aux Pays-Bas. Notre peuple aussi. #FRANED
