Leila Fernandez lost to Belinda Bencic at the WTA in Miami

Fernandez (20 years old) lost to Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic (9th seed) after only 67 minutes of play, 6-1, 6-1.

In the next round, the Tokyo Olympic champion will meet Russian Kateryna Aleksandrova (18).

This year, Leyla has 10 victories, but most of them came in qualifying tournaments in which she participated. The Canadian achieved her best result in 2023 at the very first competition she played in: the quarters in Oakland.
