OUR United Nations accused them Ukrainian and Russian troops that they carried out dozens of summary executions of prisoners of war during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
“We are deeply concerned about the summary executions of 25 Russian POWs and civilians,” as well as “15 Ukrainian POWs,” said Matilda Bogner, head of the UN Human Rights Mission in Ukraine.
According to her, the UN recorded these executions of Russians by the Ukrainian armed forces, which “often” occur “immediately after being captured on the battlefield.”
The UN is aware of five investigations being conducted by Kiev into 22 victims, but “we are not aware of any prosecution” of the perpetrators of these crimes, he added.
As for the shootings of 15 Ukrainian POWs “shortly after they were captured” by the Russian armed forces, 11 of them were carried out by the Russian paramilitary group Wagner, Bogner also said.
