Sorana Kirstya qualified for the second round in Miami.

The Romanian, who is ranked 74th in the WTA rankings, needed 2 hours and 3 minutes to overtake Fernando Contreras Gomez (179 WTA).

Eliminated in the quarterfinals of Indian Wells by Iga Svyatek, Sorana did not have an easy match with the Mexican.
