The Ford series, Félix L, originally from Sierentz (68), knows it almost by heart. For more than forty years in a row, he was the owner of the village Fiesta, Escort, Taunus, Sierra AND Mondeo. From the end of 2019, it is a edge which took place in his garage. This SUV, introduced in 2017, has 42,000 km and is still covered by a three-year warranty when purchased, with the first owner signing a five-year contract upon delivery. Like his previous one Mondeo, Félix’s Edge is equipped with adaptive LED headlights. It was this equipment that caused the problem a few weeks ago.
empty promise
A warning light came on on the dashboard, prompting our reader to check the headlights. For the dealer entrusted with the vehicle, there is only one solution: replace faulty projector. The price of this exquisite piece turned out to be prohibitively high, as the score that Felix receives is 2218 euros! However, the garage verbally promises him a 30% discount. Not satisfied with this offer, Felix asks Ford to make an additional gesture. He was denied this. To make matters worse, the manufacturer notes that it never agreed to 30% coverage. Bottom line, if this very loyal customer wants to return his refurbished Edge, he has to pay full price! It is unacceptable for our reader, who then decides to entrust us with his dossier.
Our defense strategy
Words fly away, what is written remains. We can never repeat this enough. Everything that the dealer or manufacturer promises you must be confirmed by an official document. Does the lack of the latter with respect to the 30% discount deprive Felix of any protection? Of course not, because LED headlights should last 300,000 km. However, Felix cannot count on full support, as his Edge is more than 5 years old. But Ford should give him a gesture of up to 80% of the total.
