Several Russian radio stations in Crimea called for the evacuation of the region on Wednesday after their broadcasts were once again hijacked by Ukrainian pirates, Ukrainian Pravda reports.

“There is a message about the interception of the signal of this or that radio station. Information is spreading about evacuation from the peninsula with the help of ferry crossings and other nonsense,” Sevastopol Governor Mykhailo Razvozhaev said on Thursday.

He emphasized that if such a decision is made, the information will be broadcast on all radio stations simultaneously.

“The streams of several radio stations were interrupted in Crimea. The transmitters are turned off, the reasons for the hacking have been eliminated,” said Oleg Kryuchkov, adviser to the head of Crimea.

Razvozhaev also reported that the hijacking of radio channels was connected to the drone attack that took place on the port of Sevastopol on Wednesday morning.

Russian mass media write that Sevastopol was attacked by naval drones of the Armed Forces, but the Russian Black Sea Fleet repelled the attack.

The Russian-backed administration of Sevastopol later said it had suspended ferry services.

“The classic tactic: the attack didn’t really work, well, at least we intimidate people,” Razvozhaev said about the alleged mentality of Ukrainians.

“Activity” of Ukrainian pirates in Crimea

Pirates of the Ukrainian airwaves and their supporters from other countries managed to hijack the broadcasts of Crimean radio stations several times after the beginning of the Russian invasion on February 24 last year.

For example, at the end of August, they hijacked Radio Crimea, the main radio station of the peninsula, to broadcast the national anthem of Ukraine and the address of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

“Each of the Russian officials who seized precious land in Crimea should remember that this is not a country where they will have peace,” the Kyiv leader threatened.

On February 23 of this year, a day before the anniversary of the start of the Russian invasion, hackers hijacked the Radio Sputnik broadcast in Crimea, which broadcast General Kyril Budanov’s address to the Ukrainian residents of the region.

“Crimea, Donbas and all of southern Ukraine will return home forever. We will find every traitor of Ukraine, no matter where he hides. To all patriots: The time to act is now. Wait. We are coming to you,” thundered the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
