Today, electric cars are cheaper than they used to be, although we are still a long way from achieving perfect parity. Because many elements make zero-emission cars more expensive, including the battery, which is approx 40% of the total cost of the vehicle. Therefore, not everyone can afford to buy an electric car, even with an environmental bonus. Especially since the latter tends to decline over the years. However, owning a connected vehicle would be quite interesting financially.

Less expensive to use

Indeed, if the purchase price is higher, the cost of use must also be taken into account. And in this case, the electric car is really more relevant. Research carried out TCS (Swiss Tourist Club) confirmed this by comparing several models, including the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace and the Tesla Model 3. After 10 years, the former cost €44,992 to fuel, compared to €11,945 to recharge the electric sedan. This is higher consumption for a German SUV that is sold at the same price as its competitor in this test.

Lower costs

For example, if you choose a Volkswagen ID.3, you will achieve approximately 8,025 euros in fuel savings compared to the Volkswagen Golf 1.5 TSI. Nevertheless, the latter is sold cheaper than its electric relative. And all this, not to mention maintenance costs, which are also lower on an electric car. The risk of failure is also lower if you don’t forget to connect!
