The Minister for the Protection of Citizens Takis Theodorikakos and Minister of Tourism Vassilis Kikilias announced the strengthening of airports with police officers in connection with the start of the tourist season.
According to the relevant report, a total of 1,188 police officers from various services will be deployed at the largest airports in the country.
According to Mr. Theodorikakos, the goal of the initiative is “to confirm internationally that Greece, in addition to being a beautiful country, is also a safe place.”
It is reported that 418 probationary constables will start working at 6 airports in the near future. Approximately 180 will be placed in “El. Venizelos”, 52 at Mykonos Airport, 57 at Heraklion Airport and 46 at Thira Airport.
The remaining police officers from the announced replenishment will take office in the second year.
