Thessaloniki: Investigator 62-year-old man who tried to blow up the car in which his children were

Fifth Staff Investigator Thessaloniki The 62-year-old man, the “protagonist” of the unprecedented Melissachori incident, was called to apologize when he locked himself with his 2.5-year-old twins in a car, opening the gas canister with which he tried to blow up the car.

After being discharged from the 424th military hospital, where he was treated, he was taken to the prosecutor, who accused him of two serious crimes and three misdemeanors.

In particular, he is being prosecuted for attempted serial murder, an attempted explosion that could endanger people, inflicting bodily harm on a spouse on a permanent basis, threatening a spouse during marriage, and illegal possession of weapons.

The accused, a retired Air Force officer, was given a deadline to apologize and remains in custody.

Arguing with ex-wife

The 62-year-old man recently had an argument with his ex-wife, according to court sources. The latter applied to the court for protection measures against him, citing verbal and physical abuse against her. Defendant then filed for divorce, which was recently reviewed and an interim order was issued awarding custody of the mother’s minor twins (a boy and a girl) and settling contact issues.

The episode took place last Sunday evening and was spotted by the ex-wife of a 62-year-old man who called EL.AS ER. A patrol car from the Soho Police Station immediately arrived on the scene and crew members smashed the car’s windshield, freeing the children and their father.

The timely intervention of the police prevented the worst, as due to the strong stench in the car, the underage twins fell into a semi-conscious state.

They were taken by EKAV ambulance to Ippokratio General Hospital, where they were treated out of danger.

The preliminary investigation was carried out by the Life Crimes Investigation Unit of the Thessaloniki Security Service.
