Support message from German Chancellor Olaf Scholzwith whom he spoke on the phone, said the leader of the German Social Democrats (SPD), Lars KlingbeilPASOK President Nikos Androulakis, during yesterday’s meeting in the Greek Parliament. When asked why he did not contact the head of SYRIZA, answered “K”: “We have a good relationship with Mr. Tsipras, he attended an SPD event a few years ago. But our fraternal party, the party with which we have the closest trusting relations, is PASOK. In Athens, I only had meetings with PASOK and its leader to see how we can help in the upcoming elections. After all, that’s the message of the trip.”
On the issue of cooperation SPD faced dilemmas similar to those that PASOK might be asked to answer after the first elections. What advice would he give to Mr. Andrulakis? “I’m not here to give recommendations. When the Germans tried to do something similar in the past, it didn’t help Greco-German relations. I am here to discuss with Nikos Androulakis the elections, the preparations for the elections, how we can support the party and what the balance of power is,” he said.
Nikos Androulakis – President Lars Klingbeil criticizes the government for surveillance and opposition.
“We are a historical party, a party that tried to change Greece through reforms, you know this very well, and we strive to continue to do so for many years. We are a force for progress, change, a faction that serves democracy, institutions and human rights,” said Mr. Androulakis.
