On Tuesday, Russia accused Ukraine of a drone attack on the perimeter of the Novozibkov oil pumping station, which serves the Druzhba oil pipeline, EFE and Agerpres news agencies reported.
“Ukraine’s armed forces using unmanned aerial vehicles attacked the territory of the Novozibkov oil pumping station (company) “Transneft,” Oleksandr Bogomaz, the governor of the Bryansk region of Russia, wrote in his Telegram account.
He also noted that there were no casualties, but to ensure security in the area, power supply was temporarily cut off in five settlements.
On March 15, Transneft, the operator of the oil pipeline system in Russia, announced the discovery of several explosive charges, launched from drones and not detonated, in the perimeter of the Novozybkov pumping station.
The Druzhba pipeline starts in Russia and branches off in Belarus into two other pipelines, one to Poland and the other to Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Russian oil shipments through the Druzhba pipeline are exempt from the embargo the EU imposed on Russia after the war against Ukraine began, as landlocked Central European countries have limited access to oil by sea.
Since February, Russia has condemned several attacks on the pipeline.
