A new video on social networks shows how Ukrainian troops continue to strike deep into the districts of the Kherson region on the Russian side of the Dnieper.
The video shows how, on February 24 last year, Ukrainian artillerymen hit the roadblock at the entrance to the city of Olesk, where about 25,000 people lived before the start of the war.

While the target chosen for this shot is unremarkable and the attack itself unspectacular, the footage remains remarkable for at least two reasons.
First, the video was shot by a Ukrainian drone, which once again showed that the unmanned aerial vehicles of the Kyiv troops can in some cases operate unimpeded far behind enemy lines.
She then confirms that although all the public’s attention is currently focused on the fighting in the Bakhmut direction in the Donetsk region, Ukrainian forces continue their strikes on other areas of the front.
Ukrainian forces announced the destruction of the Russian observation post and command post in Olesk at the beginning of March.

The new strike was independently geolocated by Ukrainian observers:

Where will Ukraine start its spring offensive?
Another video released in late January by Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense showed elite units of Kyiv’s military intelligence crossing the Dnipro River at night and destroying several Russian positions in the Kherson region before retreating in an operation worthy of militants.
Ukrainian forces claimed at the time that this night raid was in fact a reconnaissance of Russian positions in Novaya Kakhovka, a city in the Kherson region that has been occupied by invasion forces since February last year, in the early days of the war unleashed by Vladimir Putin.
This mission and new strikes by Ukrainians on Russian-occupied Kherson are taking place at a time when the main current question of the war in Ukraine still remains unanswered: where will Kyiv start its long-awaited spring offensive?
Military analysts seem to believe that an offensive across the Dnipro into the rest of Kherson Oblast is implausible, given the logistical difficulties of crossing the river and strengthening Russian defenses there. But such an offensive would also very likely benefit from a key component that led to the catastrophic collapse of the Russian front in Kharkiv in September: the element of surprise.
Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of mercenaries of the Wagner PMC, warned a day ago that a Ukrainian offensive was imminent and that it would be aimed at the Bakhmut sector in order to isolate its fighters from regular Russian forces.
But Prigozhin’s statements, as always, should be viewed through the prism of Russian propaganda and his own struggle for power with the military command in Moscow.
