
Romanian sports are going through a difficult moment after Mihai Dimanca, a former Romanian basketball great, died on Monday at the age of 83.

Even the club where he made history, CSA Steaua Bucharest, reported on Mihai Dimanci’s disappearance.
“Have a smooth journey, Mihai Dimanche! Romanian basketball is poorer now. We will preserve the memory of the number 11, which Mihai Dimancha wore with such pride. May God give him peace! Condolences to the family.” – wrote the soldier.
Mihai Dimancha was born on August 31, 1940, played basketball for Metalul 23 Resica and Steaua (Bucharest).
Together with the military, he had the greatest results: 4 championship titles (1963, 1964, 1966 and 1967) and the Romanian Cup (1966).
In the Romanian basketball team, Mihai Dimancha collected 45 rebounds and represented the tricolor at the 1965 Summer Universiade and the 1969 European Championship.
He ended his playing career in 1973. He later became the manager of the team that won the Stars’ last national title in 1991.
Mihai Dimancha was also an international basketball referee, and in 1997 he received the title of Honored Master of Sports.
