Olena Rybakina wants to become a world leader

Wimbledon champion and Australian Open finalist Rybakina said that her next goal is to climb to the top of the WTA ranking.

“I think the main goal, of course, is to become number 1. There is still a long way to go. That’s kind of the ultimate goal, I’d say. I’m currently in 7th place, but you know how fast the rankings change.

Therefore, we have to constantly concentrate on each next tournament. I try not to think about the rating, especially now, when the goal is still far away” – Olena Rybakinaafter the triumph in Indian Wells.

The player representing Kazakhstan also talked about the possibility of achieving the “Sunny Double” (victory in Indian Wells and Miami Open).

“I will try to focus only on each match, because it is very difficult. I know Iga did it and I have a lot of respect for her. And there are completely different conditions” – Olena Rybakina.

Olena Rybakina (10th seed), who went directly to the second round of the Miami Open, will play the winner of the match between Anna Kalinska and Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva.

The Miami Open takes place from March 21 to April 2 on hard, is in the “WTA 1000” category and has a total prize pool of $8,800,000. There are 96 players in the main draw, and the reigning champion is Iga Svyatek.
