The unprecedented incident took place on Sunday night (March 19) in Melissochori, Thessaloniki and was seen by his ex-wife and mother of twins (a boy and a girl), which prompted EL.AS Immediate Action.
A patrol car from the Soho Police Station immediately arrived on the scene and crew members smashed the car’s windshield, freeing the children and their father. The timely intervention of the police prevented the worst, as the underage twins fell into a semi-conscious state due to a strong stench in the car.
They were taken by EKAV ambulance to Ippokratio General Hospital, where they are being treated out of danger. The police officer of the above-mentioned crew also felt discomfort and had to be given first aid.
A 62-year-old man – reportedly a former Air Force officer – was also taken to the hospital in a semi-conscious state, his health is not in danger.
During the police investigation carried out in the car, it was found that there was also a second gas bottle in the trunk, which, however, unlike the first, was locked.
A criminal case has been opened against a 62-year-old man, the preliminary investigation is being conducted by the Department for the Investigation of Crimes Related to Private Life, Thessaloniki Police Department.
