​The organizers of the Miami Open drew the tournament table, and Sorana Kirstya, Iryna Begu and Ana Bohdan found out their opponents in the first round of the “WTA 1000” competition.

So, Kirsteya (74 WTA) will meet her in the first round at Fernanda Contreras Gomez (179 WTA, wildcard beneficiary). If she gets past the Mexican, Sorana will face Caroline Garcia (WTA 4th, 5th favorite) in the second round, an athlete accepted directly at this stage of the competition. The Romanian defeated the French at Indian Wells.

Iryna Begu (34 WTA) will play in the first round with Alexander Eal (17 years old, champion among juniors at the US Open 2022, 219 WTA). If she beats the talented Filipina, Iryna will meet the Chinese Qinwen Zheng (23rd favorite).

In the main grid of Florida, the competition is also Ana Bohdan (60 WTA), who will make her debut against the American Robin Montgomery (193 WTA, wild card). In case of victory, our athlete will then meet with Madison Keys (seeded under No. 19).

One of the most interesting meetings of the first round will be the meeting between Bianca Andreescu (31 WTA) and Emma Radukanu (72 WTA), athletes of Romanian origin who have won the US Open (Canadian in 2019, British in 2021). In the next round, the winner will play Maria Sakkari (favourite 7).

The Miami Open takes place from March 21 to April 2 on hard, is in the “WTA 1000” category and has a total prize pool of $8,800,000. There are 96 players in the main draw, and the reigning champion is Iga Svyatek.
