Today its former leader made a blunt statement. GREEK POLICE. Konstantinos Skoumas, arguing among other things that during recent crises his officially documented objections to faces were ignored, and even speaking of “unprecedented discrediting of the institutional role of the leader”.

Recall that by unanimous decision of the Governmental National Security Council (KYSEA) in the position of head of the National Security Agency of Greece. Lieutenant General Lazaros Mavropoulos was appointed.

“The only criterion during my many years of service was the offer to society and every citizen, without exception and without discrimination.

My operational ability and effectiveness is indeed proven both in fighting the hybrid threat of thousands of migrants at the border of our country in Evros in 2020, in fighting the uprising of 10,000 migrants in Lesvos, and in fighting organized crime with the help of real statistics.

The honesty of my character and the transparency of my choice are known to all police personnel, agencies with which I have worked, local governments and all civil society.

I have always believed, and continue to believe to this day, from every responsible position that I have held, that the development of each colleague should be based on merit and solely on the criteria of service. With the aim of modernizing the police and its work in accordance with democratic principles and the rule of law. No one can be above the law, no one can be above the public interest.

Inspired by these Principles and Values, I have always insisted that only those who, with their competence and experience, can effectively cope with their tasks be placed in responsible, fighting positions. I stood in the way as a leader in the disbanding of the police departments and combat services of the Corps and in the transfer of police officers to positions that did not serve the public interest. I have always been in a state of “war” with all kinds of circles that spoil the cause of the Greeks and act to the detriment of the Society.

In recent court decisions, my officially documented objections to individuals have been ignored, in an unprecedented downplaying of the institutional role of the boss, and therefore I will not assume the responsibilities of my political boss or become anyone’s scapegoat.

Recently, as the result shows, my decisions to act as the Constitution prescribes and the Society requires, that is, with absolute transparency and meritocratism, have not received the expected recognition. In fact, it was these Principles of mine that caused violent indignation in certain centers of power, which, as it turns out, led to the violent termination of my powers. One deadline that was extended only about a month ago.

I go out with dignity and with a clear conscience and bring to court all the facts that will become even more noticeable in the course of the case.
