OUR Turkey improve its diplomatic relations with Egypt at ambassadorial level “as soon as possible”, Turkish Foreign Minister said today Mevlut Cavusoglu during his visit to Cairo, the first high-ranking Turkish official in a decade when relations between the two countries soured.
“I am especially glad that we are taking clear steps to normalize our relations with Egypt … We will do our best not to disrupt our relations in the future,” the Turkish minister said at a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart. Sameh Shukri.
As said CavusogluTurkey will make efforts to further extend the Black Sea grain deal by allowing exports from Ukraine on the day the deal expires.
“Russia agreed to extend the grain deal for only two months. We will try to extend it in two months,” he stressed.
For his part, his Egyptian counterpart described today’s talks with Cavusoglu as “honest, thorough and clear”, and he himself mentioned the possibility of the return of the ambassadors of the two countries.
“We will approach the issue (of the return of ambassadors) at the appropriate time, depending on the positive results,” said Sukri.
