As Marca reports, in one of the two cars that took the Spanish athletes from the airport, one tire exploded while driving on the highway, and the driver lost control of the steering wheel. The car overturned and crashed into a fence on the side of the road.

Gymnasts Nestor Abad, Joel Plata, Tierno Diallo Boubacar, Raderly Zapata, Daniel Carrion, Sergio Moreno and Oriol Reefa were riding in this car.

The most seriously injured among the athletes was Joel Plata, who suffered a femur fracture while undergoing surgery at the Aveiro clinic, said the president of the Spanish Gymnastics Federation, Jesus Carballo.

Other athletes received bruises and blows, and after examination by doctors, it was determined that they did not suffer serious injuries.
