Since the launch of its first generation in 1990 Renault Clio is mandatory on our roads and has a real success: today almost 16 million copies sold worldwide, in no less than 120 countries! Thus, according to Renault, the Clio became the best-selling French car of all time.

Renault Clio: a real commercial success

When it was launched to replace the Renault 5, the Renault Clio revolutionized the city car segment, with a real evolution in terms of chassis, quality, equipment, and thanks to its large catalog to satisfy all needs, as well as very affordable prices.

More than 30 years after its launch, the fifth generation Clio is still one of the must-have cars on the market. During its history, it was twice awarded the European trophy car of the year : in 1991 with Clio I, then in 2006 with Clio III.

Today there are such more than 1,400 examples of Clio produced every day at the Renault plants in Bursa (Turkey) and Novo-Mesto (Slovenia). In Turkey, Clio comes off the production lines in Bursa every minute!

Renault Clio: many versions

One of the strengths of the Clio is the presence in its catalog of many different versions, as well as several limited editions, which have made it successful throughout its career. Let’s not forget the famous version of Baccara and its particularly luxurious endowment, which would later become Initiale.

The Clio I had a sporty version of the 16S in 1991, which replaced the Renault 5 GT Turbo with its 140bhp, followed by the Clio Williams in 1993. But the most symbolic version remains, first of all, Clio II V6released in 2000, which has a 230 horsepower V6 directly behind the two front seats.

In 2019, the Clio V will see the light of day with a new version of advanced technologies, which, in particular, is equipped with an E-Tech hybrid engine. In a few weeks, the fifth opus of the city car from the diamond will benefit from a mid-career restylingwhich will be presented on Tuesday April 18, 2023. It will have a completely new face with a light signature reminiscent of the Scénic Vision concept.
