In a letter to the Parliamentary Audit Department of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, Greek train informs about the cargo of a freight train, which collided face to face by passenger train to Tempi, on the evening of 28 February.

According to the document, which was received in response to a question from Hellenic Solution President Kyriakos Velopoulos to the Greek Parliament and signed by the company’s managing director Maurizio Capotorto, train 63501 carried food, beer and sheet metal.

In particular, the document says:

“In response to your aforementioned document, with which Question 2506/03.03.2023 was sent to us, submitted to the Greek Parliament by the Member of Parliament for Larissa, Mr. Kyriakos Velopoulos, regarding the need to clarify the cargo of the commercial train involved in the collision of the Tempe train on 28.02 .2023′, we report the following:

Freight train 63501 dated February 28, 2023 included (a composite statement is attached) only 13 (thirteen) cars, of which the first 3 (three) cars derailed in the direction of the train and were loaded with wide products from rolled iron (sheets ), and then ten (10) wagons were loaded with containers.

According to the records kept by our company and according to the declaration of the customer/forwarder on the type of cargo carried, as stipulated by national and international regulations for the carriage of goods by rail, the contents of the sealed containers in the order indicated on the composition sheet were as follows:
