
On Wednesday night (15.03) a shooting incident took place in Neoktista Aspropyrgos, as a result of which a DIAS police officer was shot in the stomach. Fortunately, the policeman was wearing a bulletproof vest, which saved him from serious injuries.
According to the information, a police officer was injured during an operation to search for a robber who had previously robbed a pedestrian.
In particular, there was a relevant complaint. When police officers arrived at Nairatis Street, in the Neoktistas district, they heard shots and, as it became known, one of the bullets from the weapon “pierced” the policeman’s body armor without penetrating it.
A man in uniform was taken to a military hospital for preventive tests.
According to ERT, residents of the area shortly before reported the senseless shooting to the police. EL.AS is investigating if the two incidents are related.
