You know the Volkswagen ID.3, but do you know the more subdued Cupra Born? Made in Germany by Seat’s sister brand, the Cupra, it stands out from its German competition with its chic and sporty styling. Born uses the same technology as the Volkswagen ID.3, but is sporty aggressive body kit including side sills and rear diffuser. Inside, there are bucket seats in fabric or recycled microfiber, all in black.

Again curtsy to sportsmanship, whose ambassador this Bourne wants to be. Although the ergonomics of the dashboard may be questionable (all functions are controlled via the central screen), better quality plastic than ID.3. The capacity in the back is very large, and the trunk is quite roomy. Although this car is more expensive than some Seat models, it offers superior style and performance.

More sporty Volkswagen ID.3

How is it protected from the technical side? Not surprisingly, she shares most of her organs with her cousin from Wolfsburg.. Thus, the Born is a powerplant that carries its electric motor on the rear axle. It is available in 150 hp. (battery 45 kWh), 204 hp. (58 kWh) or 231 hp with the optional e-Boost package. This could also be accompanied by a larger battery (77 kWh). With 204 horsepower at the heart of the range, the Born charges in 30 hours from a household outlet.

This is a minimum of 5 and a half hours on the AC terminal (11 kW charger). 30 minutes on a fast DC terminal (maximum charging power 120 kW for 204 hp). At the moment it is available in France from €44,500. But a few days ago we discovered a restyling of its cousin ID.3. The Born is coming soon and here’s what he has in store for us…

A facelift is coming

Restyling the ID.3 was very, very easy will it be like this with the Born? According to a few photos we’ve found at Cupra product launches in recent months, it looks like the front end will change a lot. Projectors will accept amazing light signature with multiple triangles. To further confirm the ethnic design, expensive SEAT and Cupra. The shield and front fenders would benefit from its redesign.

The central touch screen switches 10-12 inchesand the instrument panel will be redesigned, and further enhanced with fleece materials and plastic. On the technical side, if it’s like on ID3, the new Born will take a charging power up to 170 kW instead of 135 kW. In other words, it will be able to charge even faster than the current Phase 1! Expected to be introduced this year, this middle name Born does not yet have a final presentation date. A little more patience…
